|
Here is my take on the two biggest things to improve the event. A good surface. Concrete would be nice, but at least get rid of the slurry seal. Your putting on a show for the crowd and the crowd wants to see the faster cars make passes not shut off early. I would suggest some detuning would also help, but we know that is never going to happen. lol This will also help with not destroying a $300.00 + set of tires in one weekend for the competitors. This should help quality of racing and cars.
Second, covered bleachers. This will improve turn out and how long people stay. Plus everyone won't be fighting over the tree shaded spots or stuck behind an umbrella.
What do you think? |

Keith Ahart was running low 3 without letting out. besides its a city street not a drag strip when the wings and wheels organization gets a track of there own I'm sure
it will have all of that good stuff. but with only one day to set up and tear down how much more do you expect? |

Its called street drags because its on the street haha
While a nice surface would indeed bring out more of the big boys the event is aimed more at the everyday joe....they guys who meet up and sonic and line their cars up lord knows where now on the weekends. Now that I am the proud owner of some snazzy tires myself I certainly wouldn't wear em to the street drags....I'd just go on my everydays and hope everyone else does too so the competition is even
Covered bleachers is an AWESOME idea....the wings and wheels people are on a donation type basis I think though - know anyone that will lend them some? A big tent/tarp like covering perhaps? |

WHAT?!
The dude that works at Aarons that has the nice looking gray third gen with TA rims (his name obviously escapes me) showed up with a 305 on snazzy drag radials to have fun. If he can do it you can too!! |

If it was concrete and hooked hard, would there be a problem with going to fast for the shut down area?
Could do like NHRA and shorten the track........ |

Drag racing if for people who can build fast cars....autocross is for people who can drive fast in any car :p
You must just not have any skills past a reaction time :p |

Good Asphalt and some track bite = Wheelstand contest! That will put butts in the bleachers and money in the bank! Plus I want to see 330 feet on the wheelie bars. |

Try some road-racing. I'll give you twice the horsepower, twice the tires and then we'll see who comes out on top. |

You're on, but then you get to come to the road course afterwards. Same vehicles heads up both times. |

| What track days do you go to kneedragger? All the ones I have seen are like $300, which dollar per min of seat time isn't bad but I just never seem to have it to spare. |

AZTrackday.com and Trackdaz.com for almost all of my racetrack needs. Prices are pretty good through both, though I work on the AZTrackday staff so I get a decent amount of free tracktime through them.
Haven't done much road coursing with the cars, but I'll give it a go one of these days. |
